I apologize for getting behind on this blog!! NYC is amazing, and there are so many things that I want to see and do while I am here! I have been leaving very early each morning and going, going, going until very late at night! I am running on fumes but I am loving every minute of it! Let me catch you up on what I have been doing the past three days...
On Friday, I took a guided tour of the United Nations!! It was AWESOME!! The tour guide was very information and answered all of my questions! He was very helpful! I really learned a lot here! After that, I walked around China Town. It was a very cool area of NYC. The cultural vibe was incredible! I then went to the American Museum of Natural History. WOW!!! This place is HUGE!!! I only had a couple of hours to walk through, but I could have spent several hours here. This museum is one of the best museums I have ever been to. It provides visitors with a WEALTH of information... I finished the day by attending a Yankees vs. Orioles game. New Yorkers definitely take their baseball seriously!!
On Saturday, I began my day by having brunch at Tammany Hall. I thought this was where the Tweed Ring met. I was disappointed to learn that it was not the only place they met. Rather, they met in the general area of this restaurant. Nonetheless, it was a great brunch (Have I mentioned that I LOVE the food up here??!!). Next, I walked by the Andrew Carnegie Mansion. Although it seems small compared to some buildings in the area today, I can imagine why it was such a big deal at the time! It was HUGE! I then went back to Central Park and toured areas of the park that I had missed earlier in the week. Next, I visited the Gugenheim to check out some art. I finished my day in Times Square, which was packed!
Today, I rode the subway for a little over an hour to get to Coney Island. I was NOT disappointed! It was well worth the long trip. This place was amazing. There were so many people on the boardwalk, beach, and at the amusement parks. People were singing karaoke on the boardwalk. I got to eat at Nathan's!! While in Brooklyn, I visited the Wall of Remembrance, which is a tribute to the rescue workers who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks. I then traveled back to Manhattan and finished my day by taking an evening boat tour around the island. AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!
Tomorrow is my last full day in the city. As soon as I get home, I plan on writing a more extensive blog that highlights the MANY things I have learned on my trip, so PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON! :)
