I flew into New York City today to began my fellowship and learn more about the city and its residents. After checking into my apartment, I headed straight to Times Square to see what "the fuss" is all about.... WOW!! Times Square is amazing! There are so many people in such a small area!! The people are very nice.
I then visited the Times Square Museum to learn a little more about the
area. I learned a lot about the history of Times Square and the impact it has made on the city. I got to see the Centennial Ball that was used for the New Years Eve celebration in 2007. I learned that New Yorkers actually write notes on the confetti that drops from the sky on New Years Eve!!
After exploring the Times Square area until dark, it was time for dinner (one of the best things about New York City!!). I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Carmine's Italian Restaurant! Stuffed to the max and weary from a day of traveling and adventure, I returned home to get some rest because tomorrow begins a 9 day streak of running around the city from sun up to sun down! Once again, I would like to thank Fund For Teachers, the Public Education Foundation, and EVERYONE who is a sponsor or supporter of these programs! I have never been to NYC before, and I'm certain I could not have afforded an extensive study trip to the city on my own. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support!!
